In the Caribbean female artists are very abundant however very few actually make it to a level that can be recognized globally. Nyaka...Caribbean born with roots of Venezuelan, Scottish, St. Vincent and Barbados; is from the island of Trinidad and Tobago...born 21st September. She is not just one of those female artists who has been in the business for many years and haven't accomplished anything substantial... At the age of 9 Nyaka began playing the national instrument of her country, the Steel Pan. Travelling the link of islands in the Caribbean playing everything from Beethoven to Calypso Rhythms composed by some of her main musical influences, The Mighty Sparrow and even Michael Jackson. Time spent in her school choir helped her to develop the fundamentals of her musical gifts. After studying Travel & Tourism at university level, she returned to her country and went into the recording studio with her childhood friend SEF GAINES to record her first hit single Anything You Want. This helped to launch her performance style and flaunt having performed for crowds of up to 3000. Determined she moved to Miami for a short stint before realizing that Jamaica is a main hub of music to the World and one of the Capitals of Caribbean Music among the islands. Just within a mere five months of landing on Jamaican soil she has already began receiving that global recognition many of her counterparts who have been in the business much longer, still only dream of. After recording with different producers and performing in local hot spot venues, Nyaka was chosen as an opening act for one of POP AND DANCEHALL SUPER STAR SEAN Paul’s shows in Europe for a crowd of almost 15,000 people. The crowd which had never even heard of Nyaka other than a full page article the local European newspaper had of her only 3 days prior to the show, received her with more love than a regular new artist would receive. This petite 'fire ball' as described in the Jamaica Observer 07/14/06, does not relent until the crowd is at her fingertips. Nyaka was also chosen as one of the HOTT GIRL ARTISTS on the annual STING in Jamaica. Nyaka is fearless and spoke to the crowd like they were familiar with her and still managed to receive a very positive response and feed back from the known unpredictable and difficult, Sting crowd of about 20,000 people. Nyaka is multitalented and not only writes her own melodies and lyrics, but also contributes substantially in the production aspect of her musical compositions. Her lyrics can be described as sensual...bold...sassy...self empowering (girl power) and of course she is Caribbean blooded so she could be downright hardcore. But, this Caribbean Princess...Queen... exudes as her name means ...grace...sensuality...vivacity with her every move. And her cool demeanour is complemented by her warm smile and fiery eyes.
